Let us know what you end up deciding. The Odyssey Neo G9’s groundbreaking dual UHD 57” curved display paves the way for monitors in 2023 and beyond If you can get used to having to look left and right pretty often, which I've gotten used to, then I'd say the LG makes more sense for productivity because it has more features (like a USB-C/Thunderbolt hookup which the G9 surprisingly doesn't have). not having the perfect 2-laptop solution and the eye strain just seems like less of a hassle. So I'd be stuck.įor me, the trade-off comes down to eye strain at the very far ends of the monitor vs. Also, my work laptop is locked down and I think you need admin rights to set up the KVM properly. With the G9, yes you can get an external KVM switch, but good ones are pricey and the monitor itself is already expensive (by the way, the LG is deeply discounted right now at ~$1,000 on Amazon). Having all my peripherals follow me to each computer is hugely convenient - I have just enough peripherals to make it annoying to have to manually move them back and forth all the time (webcam, headset dongle, and external harddrive). I have my personal and work laptops both plugged in and I use both PBP and full-screen switch between the two really often. So why am I leaning towards keeping the LG? The deciding factor for me is the KVM switch. So the G9, with its 1000R curvature is super appealing to me. Reading emails and messages isn't too bad especially at the closer edges of Outlook and Teams, but at the very far corners of the monitor, I definitely feel eye strain. I like to keep my Outlook on the left 4th of the screen, my Teams on the right 4th, leaving me 2 nice sized spaces in the middle to do side-by-side work. My only gripe with the LG and why keeping it isn't a no-brainer for me is the lack of curve. I also use my monitor for productivity only, not a gamer. I've had it for 2.5 months now and absolutely love it (an opportunity came up for me to exchange it if I want, so I naturally started poking around and came across the only good alternative in my opinion spec-wise, Samsung Neo G9)! I'm going through the same thought process as you - leaning towards the LG 49WQ95C.
